Snippets From The Horken House

As many of you know, David and I have recently moved to Omaha, Nebraska.  Actually we live south of Omaha.  We are close enough to ride our bikes to stores, restaurants, etc. but south of us are the wide open spaces.  Our neighborhood has two lakes with more in the planning stages.

I first began to think about the possibility of moving here about five years ago.  I was praying about it while David was finishing up his career with Le Mars Community Schools.  We would talk about it from time to time but nothing more than that.

After he retired, we became more serious.  Then last February we looked at each other and we knew it was time.  It was a big move for us so we took a little more time to pray about it.  When we finally decided it was a "go," we put the house on the market.  Within seven days it sold for the price we were asking--so I guess we are moving!!

The house sold on June 15th and by August lst we were in our new home in Omaha.

Thanks to the family and friends who helped us load the truck.  Did I say truck?  I meant trucks!!  Can't thank you all enough.  Also thanks to all the kindnesses our precious friends extended toward us in the month of July as we were packing, loading and getting ready to go.  It meant so much to us!

We said "Goodbye" to the Ice Cream Capital of the World after 30 years.  We loved living there and raising our family there but we knew it was time for us to be "adventerous."

Teagon, our oldest grandchild, helped the men unload the truck.  It had to be one of the hottest days of the year.  Glad that is over.  Right, Teagon?





David is probably saying, "Where did all this stuff come from??"  Because of his hard work, thirteen days later the garage looks great.  We are now actually thinking we can start enjoying ourselves.

Our new address is 12628 S. 81st Street in Papillion, Nebraska.  You are welcome to come for a visit!!  We lived in a condo in Le Mars but "upsized" to this four bedroom house so there is room for you to come and stay over!!
