Here's a recap of Day 3 and 4 of our time with the kids:  Eliya (9), Josiah (8) and Hannah (6).  We tried to keep up with their homework.

In between we had a lot of fun!!  Here we are swimming at the pool in Sioux Center Pool.

Grandpa and the kids coming off the slide.

Hannah---READY!!

Hannah---SET!!

Hannah---GO!!

It took her awhile but she finally got up her nerve.

Here's the gang!!

And the girls!

Josiah trying a fruit parfait.  I think he likes it!!

Hannah likes them too!

Hannah wiggled that tooth until it finally fell out!  She was so happy!!

Josiah wanted a picture of the number 8 that he made by biting into his grilled cheese!!

We've had a great time and the it has gone so quickly!!
I don't mind telling you how quiet our house is going to seem after this!!

From sunny Florida to Snowy Iowa!  David and I have our three grandkids at our house for five days and I want to share the fun with you!

Here's Hannah (age 6 and in first grade) is doing "School."  She has set up her desk and arranged all her books and assignments and she is busy working.

Josiah (age 8 and in third grade) is "studying" also.  He chooses to do his work online!

Anyone remember the SRA Kit we used to have in elementary school?  Eliya (age 9 and in 4th grade) is going gang busters on her levels.  She takes a test after the reading and then checks her work.  She is the "goal-oriented one" so she didn't want to stop for lunch until she reached Level 20.  I convinced her that she could take a break and then get back to it later.

Grandpa Dave is doing his work also.  His medium of choice is the ipad.

After lunch we watched "Swiss Family Robinson" and then had a craft session.  We used acrylic paint and decorated some of the flat shells we brought home from the Florida beaches.  Notice the big jar of peanut butter on the counter.  They had to have a little snack while they worked.

Eliya, our budding artist turned her shell into a cartoon fish-- a rainbow fish of sorts.

In the first grade, the students are learning to count money.  Grandpa David had lots of pocket change and he and Hannah had fun talking about what equals what from one penny to one dollar.

While we were having fun indoors, here's what it looked like outside.  This is David blowing snow in our neighbor's driveway.  As soon as David removed it, the snow again filled in.

Eliya and I went out to help.  We are glad it will be tapering off in the next few hours.

There will be no grilling tonight!!

One thing we know is that it won't last very long.  Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the high 30's and then some melting will take place.

Our daughter and son-in-law are vacationing where it is warm and sunny and the beaches are inviting.  Enjoy every minute of it, kids!  Your children are doing fine!!

Hello from the last leg of our trip!!

Stadium in Kansas City

A nice safe bridge in Kansas City.  Anyone know the name of it??

Approaching Omaha where they had 8-10" of snow the day before.

It may not look like a lot but there were cars in the ditch from the day before.  It had rained and turned to snow so it was icy.  This is near Omaha.

Home Sweet Home

It almost looks like the first picture I put on this travel blog!!

We have no snow and the sun is shining but IT IS COLD!!!

We left Wednesday, Feb lst.  We said "good-bye" to Roger and Lee Ann and we were off!

The first leg of our trip home was to Albany, Georgia where my sister lives.  Her husband was out of town but we had a nice visit.  We stayed one night, had breakfast the next morning and we were on the road again.

Here is a picture of the Atlanta skyline.  No stopping here!  Just trying to keep up with the traffic.

We stopped at a beautiful rest stop to stretch our legs.  This was in Tennessee.  We think Tennessee is a beatiful state.

Quite different from Iowa!!

This is one of our favorite places to eat.  Great atmosphere!  Great food!!

They are only in the southwest!  The people in Missouri are so incredibly friendly and nice.  So willing to please!

This is the Arch in St. Louis, MO.  Maybe next year we'll actually stop and sight see.

We are in a great hotel in Columbia, Missouri.  We decided that Omaha was not the place to be today (Saturday) so we decied to stay another night here and wait for the sun and the warmer temperatures in Omaha.  We aren't used to snow, you know!!
