Greetings to Friends and Family!!

I have been putting off writing anything on my blog because I have been too busy to take pictures.  This morning it occurred to me that I could just write to you and bring you up to date!  What a concept!!

On September lst we crossed over the one month period that we have lived in Papillion.  As you can imagine that month was filled with cardboard boxes, trips to Home Depot, Lowes and Menards and of course, let us not forget WALMART!!!!

We are pretty much settled now and things are gradually getting into place.  Our window treatments for the living area are still on "hold" but it shouldn't be too long now.  We are kind of getting used to those paper shades on the windows!!

Gradually we are meeting new people.  I joined a water aerobics class last week and the gals were so nice.  We've had lunch together already and I am amazed at how warm and receptive they are!!  Very fun!!

There are about 500 homes in the area that we live and we are gradualy starting to meet new people.  We decided that we have to hang out in our yard more because people gravitate to one another to visit so that is good!

In a weak moment, David and I (Okay.....it was just me!) volunteered to be block captains.  It is our job to welcome new people to the block and to let the existing neighbors know that someone new has moved in.  I suppose that means doing some entertaining which is fine with us.  Okay, instead of doing just our block, they assigned us to FOUR blocks!!  They said they were short on volunteers.  That is a bit overwhelming but we'll do our best.  Perhaps in all our visiting, we can find other people to volunteer as captains.

The kids are in and out, which is fun.  Now that school has started and they have their activities (Scouts, dance, cheer, Jam Club, etc.) they don't have all that much time.  I am trying to find one night a week when they can come for dinner.  It may have to be Sunday night before the week starts.

I like to have the kids help prepare the meal so here is Josiah.  I knew he would like using the mixer!!  Loves the noise...loves the
power.... he's a boy!!

Jagger and Eliya were on their own with this.  Jagger is reading the box and together they were making waffles.

This is Grandparents Week at the kids' school so today David and I packed our lunches and off we went to eat lunch with the kids.

This is snack time and homework at our house--the reason we moved to Papillion!!

Now that we are "settled," we would love to have company.  Jeanie and Craig Roberts came down and we biked around the area.   We are taking a break here at Walnut Creek. What a great day it was!

So let us know when you are in our area----or when you are free to do one of those "let's get out of town" things!  We'd love to have you stop in.....bike......stay......visit.......eat at Wheatfields .....see all those yummy treats behind Dave!!  Now you know the truth about why we bike!!

We would love to hear from you so email us at dkhorken@cox.net and kahorken@cox.net. Keep us up to date about what is going on in your neck of the woods!!

Love from Dave and Karol
